Who this is for

If you and your partner love each other, keep hurting each other in the same predictable way, and want to know exactly where the argument turns — this course is for you. It is designed for two people at a kitchen table, not for a classroom, and it assumes no background in psychology.

What you will be able to do

  • Name the moment the argument stopped being about the thing you started with, so you can say it out loud while it is still happening.
  • Spot cognitive and emotional bypassing — the two escape routes people take when a feeling arrives — so you can catch the one that looks most like maturity.
  • Separate facts, interpretations, emotions and behaviors, so you can argue about what happened rather than about what it meant.
  • Validate without agreeing, so you can stop treating every acknowledgment as a concession.
  • Work the P.R.O.C.E.S.S. method and a real repair, so you can turn a four-day fight into a twenty-minute one you both know the shape of.

03Emotional Bypassing
Going around a feeling by having a different one — or none at all.
45 min
04Facts, Interpretations, Emotions, Behaviors
Taking an incident apart so you can find the exact place you and your partner stopped agreeing.
50 min
05Validation Is Not Agreement
How to say 'that makes sense' to something you think is wrong.
45 min
06Attachment Styles and Conflict Processing
Why you need to finish it tonight and your partner needs to stop, and why neither of you is wrong.
55 min
07The Tone Trap
"It's not what you said, it's how you said it" — and why both of you are right.
45 min
08When Therapy Language Becomes a Weapon
Boundaries, triggers, gaslighting, trauma — and what happens when the words get used to win.
45 min
09The BOTH/AND Principle
The end of the winner-and-loser structure, and the beginning of a conversation two people can survive.
45 min
10The P.R.O.C.E.S.S. Method
Seven steps, in order, every time — the conversation you can run when you do not trust yourselves to improvise.
60 min
11Acknowledge, Accept, Act
Three movements that must happen in order — and the difference between a justification, an excuse, and an honest account.
50 min
12Accountability Without Shame
Owning impact without collapsing — and receiving an apology without using it.
50 min
13Repair, Resolution, and Relational Safety
Healthy relationships are not defined by the absence of rupture. They are defined by the reliability of repair.
60 min

Format & what you get

  • Thirteen modules of forty-five to sixty minutes, mapped one-to-one onto the Beyond Bypassing workbook — read here, write there, or do both in one sitting.
  • Each module runs the same way: objectives and a hook, the teaching in full, a diagram, a worked example, a structured attempt with your partner, then the same thing on your own.
  • 140+ flash cards and 130 quiz questions. Eight out of ten passes; retake as often as you like.
  • Written fields save as you type, in your own browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and you can export your answers to a text file at any time.

Questions people actually ask

Should we do this together or separately?

Either works, but one module a week is the pace most couples sustain, and the skills compound — Module 10 assumes you have been practising Modules 1 through 9. Doing all thirteen in a weekend produces recognition without change, which is the specific failure Module 11 is about.

Is this appropriate for every relationship?

No, and the course says so on its first screen. It is not appropriate where there is coercive control — intimidation, threats, monitoring, control of money or movement, or fear of your partner. Working on communication inside a coercive relationship can make a person less safe rather than more. In the United States, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788.

Do we need the workbook?

No. Each course module maps onto the workbook module of the same number, so they work well together, but the course teaches the material in full on its own.

Is this therapy?

No. It is education, and it does not replace working with a licensed clinician. Where there is active addiction, untreated severe mental illness, or an ongoing affair, those need their own work alongside or before couples work.

Where does what we write go?

Into your own browser, on your own device, and nowhere else. Nothing is sent anywhere and nobody but you can see it.

Most couples do not have a hundred problems. They have one argument that wears different clothes.

Not the disappearance of your pattern — nobody gets that. What changes is duration, damage, and the reliability of the return.

Program Clarity

GraceRoot courses are psychoeducational learning programs, not emergency care, legal advice, or a replacement for therapy. Certificates document GraceRoot completion. Court, employer, board, or continuing education acceptance should be confirmed before purchase unless a page states a specific approval.
